I sincerely apologize on behalf of my day late post. Here is my blog entry for Monday, September 14th.
Today I attended the master class with Theresa from TIFF’s adult learning program. I am glad I made an appearance because Theresa had very inspiring points to share about how she got to where she is today. Theresa is quite a go-getter and is super ambitious and passionate about what she does and how she can reach the next rung of the ladder. As for someone like me who’s outlook on school thus far has been to coast through classes to graduate and not necessarily take advantage of the resources we have within our region as a catalyst in building a repertoire, I am beyond motivated to start doing more for myself to better my chances of “making it” upon arrival in the mother land.
Here are some quotes from Theresa that I enjoyed:
“I volunteered at different institutions to learn management styles and what I wanted to do with the industry and started to narrow it down.”
“Everyone measures success differently so everyone has the opportunity to become successful.”
“Your classmates will forever be your network. Get in the habit of passing industry related job postings to your classmates. Know their passions and motives within the field. Collaboration, not competition.”
