Greetings fellow Earth goers. I’m Crystal Sondey and I hail from a small country town called Armada. I am in my 3rd year of classes but my 2nd year here at Oakland Uni. I transferred in 2014 from Northern Michigan Uni., which is way up in the UP, Marquette Michigan to be exact. I transferred for the main reason being, they didn’t have the central focus on cinema like Central or Oakland had offered. So I made my choice and here I am.
I am a Cinema Studies major with a International Relations minor. I like to joke around with family and friends that I am majoring in movies and traveling. My ultimate end goal after I have graduated is to help others. Not to make a name for myself, or become rich, or have a title in a hall of fame. The main objective is to travel the world and be a voice for those who do not have the luxury to speak up for themselves or the issues they need to have addressed. With that being said one of the largest ways to make an impact on larger issues that exist is by creating a visual for a broader public to see. Now whether I achieve this goal through documentaries or with fictional works that will have thought provoking messages is another matter to address much later in my journey. Maybe it will be both?
Coming from a small country town might have a few people questioning just how open minded someone like me can be, but I can assure my friends and family, my peers and professors, my co-workers and superiors, that there’s only one thing they all need to know to be as accepting as they possibly can: Always do the right thing, not matter what. I simply hope I can make some sort of tiny impact in the world for the better one day and that it helps set a path for others to do the same.
