Hey all!

My name is Scott Davis. I am a journalism major and cinema studies minor. I write for the Oakland Post where I am the blog editor. I write a lot of movie reviews along with other cool movie related things. Not trying to promote myself, but check it out!

My love for movies knows no bounds, as I’m sure that’s the case with most of you. I love going to opening night showings of the latest blockbuster or my local art house theater to see the latest indie sensation. I am a diehard Christopher Nolan fan, with The Dark Knight and Inception both in my top five. Some of my other favorites are Silver Linings Playbook, The Social Network, Shaun of the Dead, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Television is my second love. Binge watching has become an art I have mastered which I hope makes my mom proud. My favorite shows are Breaking Bad, Lost, Parks and Rec, Arrested Development, and Dexter (except for that dreadful final season).

I am very excited about this class because it seems vastly different than other cinema studies courses. I have never been to a film festival even though I’ve always wanted to go to one. I am hoping this class teaches me more about the importance of film festivals and deepens my knowledge of the business side of film acquisitions.

I will be here at OU while a lot of you are enjoying TIFF 2015, but I can’t wait to dig deep into the festival from home and hear about the experience from everyone else!
